Amara got paid on Friday and felt rich for the first time in weeks.
“This weekend, I deserve soft life,” she smiled.
So she ordered expensive food.
Bought clothes she didn’t plan for.
Upgraded her phone case.
Paid for things just because her friends were doing it.
Each time, she told herself:
“It’s just this once.”
By Monday morning, her account balance looked like a joke.
Then something happened.
Her laptop charger stopped working — and she had no money left to replace it.
Frustrated, Amara called her older cousin.
After listening quietly, he asked one question:
“Did you spend your money on what you needed… or on what only felt good for the moment?”
Amara went silent.
That day, she realized the biggest money mistakes often sound harmless:
“Just this once.”
“I’ll save next month.”
“Everyone else has it.”
“I deserve it.”
But small careless choices repeated over time can quietly steal a person’s future.
From then on, before spending money, Amara started asking herself:
“Will this decision help my future… or delay it?”
